As a small business owner, whether you are contemplating doing business with, or are already providing goods or services to the federal government, you have to be aware that the government is unlike any commercial customer. This is because the government has strict rules and regulations outlining how they conduct business with you and in turn, how you conduct business with them. Designed for use with Intuit’s QuickBooks and Deltek’s various accounting systems (e.g. CostPoint, GCS Premier), the COA is focused on generating necessary reports to be compliant with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and can be used with virtually any applications.
Designed to be applicable for single-year or multi-year, these templates allow for methodical review of costs and budgets, resulting in detailed cost element breakdown by year or month. These Excel templates also allow for input of actual data and provide existing and projected variance analysis.
Cash flow is a critical aspect of small business management. The Excel model used allows for variable periodic updating (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly) as well as input of existing data and forecasting for upcoming periods to identify potential cash flow issues. This includes Accounts Receivable analysis such as DSO and A/R forecasting.
These Excel templates can be used in conjunction with or independently from the P&L Models. These templates provide both summary and detail analysis of Indirect Pools (e.g. Fringe, Overhead, M&S, and G&A) both on an incurred to date basis and/or a projection to year-end basis. For the government contractor, these models are critical to management of the company and to understanding the impact to forward-pricing rate agreements and billing.
